Meet Megan

My approach to therapy is quite simply "human"…

One of the risks (and benefits) of counselling is getting better at feeling (not to be confused with “feeling better”). When we commit to processing emotions, lots can become unearthed and it can feel uncomfortable, unpleasant or painful. Having access to the full spectrum of emotions is part of the human condition. I bring myself into the therapy room to meet with other humans. This allows me to develop genuine, authentic connections and trust with clients, and I use humour, laughter, and self-disclosure when appropriate. Healing doesn't have to be painful all the time.

I tend to be curious about family narrative, roles in relationships and families, world-view/belief systems, metaphors, mind-body connections, symbols and imagery within dreams, and the integration of non-ordinary states of consciousness and psychedelic medicines.

I have experience working with clients presenting with many concerns and use theoretical approaches from a handful of perspectives including narrative, person-centered, Internal Family Systems (not formally trained) and existential theory and philosophy. Through these lenses, I implore clients to consider how they want to be, and what existence is all about. My belief is aligned with musician James Taylor: “the secret to life is enjoying the passage of time”.

this moment is brief.
if we won’t be here for long
let’s be here for good.
